The first chapter of Captivating talked a lot about beauty and how women are always seeking to be beautiful. It also talks about how we are always looking for our prince charming. But that's okay! Because that's how God made us! God purposely made a woman's heart the center of her being. He purposely made it the most important part of her body. Proverbs 4:23 tells us "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Our heart is the center of our creativity, our happiness, our self assurance, our love, our passion. It is the "center of our being". That is why God made us so that we want a prince and so that we want to be beautiful. He wants us to have the best that we can have. And at the same time, He wants us to find the beauty within ourselves. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest at least looking at the stories on page 15 and realizing that even though they are both at very different ages, both girls still admire the thought of beauty. It challenges us and it sometimes even engulfs us. As the times change, the views of women change and the ways they are portrayed, but I believe that we should take a step back and realize that God really has a plan for all of this already set in stone in all of our hearts just waiting for us to find. On top of all that our hearts already are, I believe that our hearts are a mystery, even to the one that it resides in. We are on a mission to "unveil" it.
"But the desires set deep into our hearts seem like a luxury, granted only to those women who get their acts together. The message to the rest of us- whether from a driven culture or a driven church- is try harder."

Spiritual Posing
Recently we have been talking about posing. Posing in every way possible in everyday life. This was very difficult to discuss because it takes the focus off of God and puts it on ourselves. It makes us think about whether or not we are spiritual posers.
For instance, in the child series of Left Behind, when the girl (who is left behind) goes into the church, she realizes that the youth pastor is still there. Even though he was a pastor and he was teaching others how to live for God, he himself was posing as a Christ follower.
I realize that it is so easy in todays society to pose in order to fit in and to be accepted. We need to break free of the cycle and start living the way God wants us to live!
